A man has been captured in Oxfordshire on a failure to appear warrant, a police statement has said. Thames Valley Police rural crime taskforce apprehended the man in Chinnor last night (Wednesday, January 8) and he was taken into Abingdon custody.
The force added that he will be taken to court today (Thursday, January 9) to answer a charge of fraud by abuse of position. The rural police unit added: "As this is an ongoing investigation there is no further information available at the moment." They said police constables Dollery and Woolley made the arrest. A failure to appear (FTA) warrant is a court-issued arrest warrant for a defendant who doesn't appear in court as directed, also known as a bench warrant. Failure to appear in court can carry a penalty on top of any sentence on top of the original charge.
