Police in south Oxfordshire are carrying out patrols to ensure children are being safely collected from school. In a statement issued on Wednesday (February 26), police urged people not to park on zebra crossings or double yellow lines.

They said: “We know school pick-up times can be hectic, but parking on zebra crossings, double yellow lines, or other restricted areas isn’t just illegal – it’s dangerous for everyone. “These rules exist to keep children safe and protect us all. “Ignoring them puts pedestrians at risk, blocks visibility and causes unnecessary congestion “By parking irresponsibly, you’re not only creating hazards for young pedestrians but also teaching them that rules don’t matter. “Our team will be carrying out patrols around schools to help tackle the issue.  “We’re a small team covering a large area, but we’ll do our best to be present where we can. “Let’s all do our part to keep the roads safe for everyone - at school times and beyond.”
